Friends of Graham Dog Park FAQ

What is a dog park?

A dog park is a fenced in area in a park that is designated as an off leash area for dogs. Our park will have split areas for small dogs and large dogs. We are also planning on including a nature walk area inside of the park.

Where will the dog park be located?

It will be located in Bill Cooke Park off of Town Branch Rd. You can see the architecture drawings of the proposed park by clicking here.

Who can use the dog park?

The Graham dog park will be open to the public from sunrise to sunset. Dogs and individuals who meet the rules of the dog park are allowed to use the dog park. There are no fees.

What are the dog park rules?

The rules are currently being developed. Rules are put in place to establish how the dog park is used and who can use the dog park. For example in most dog parks children are not allowed and dogs are required to have their rabies shots. Once the rules are developed they will be posted here.

Who cleans up the mess?

Those that use the dog park need to help keep the dog park clean. Doggie bags will be provided to help owners clean up after their dogs. Experience shows us that dog park users are very responsible.

How is the dog park being funded?

The Friends of the Graham Dog Park are hoping to raise all the money necessary to build the dog park as planned. The City of Graham is already contributing manpower to help clear the area where the park will be installed and paying for the planning stage of the park. Now it is up to the community members who want this park to step forward and help make it a reality.

Who are the Friends of the Graham Dog Park?

We are a group of citizens who are working to help develop, build, and maintain the park. Anyone can become a member of the Friends of the Graham Dog Park at no cost by going here.
